HM Plant was founded in 1979 as a sub-dealer to distribute Hitachi’s range of hydraulic excavators. Hitachi then appointed HM Plant as its official UK importer in 1980.
1983 was the first year that HM Plant and Hitachi became the market leaders for mid-ranged excavators in the UK.
Since then, HM Plant has held the accolade of being the UK’s number one supplier of mid-range excavators for 23 of the past 25 years.
In addition, during this period HM Plant has also been established as the leading European distributor of Hitachi Construction Equipment and are a wholly owned subsidiary of HCME.
HM Plant has a network of depots that respond rapidly and appropriately to fulfil the company’s aim of efficiently servicing all of its customers’ needs.
HM Plant also distributes Metalogenia bucket teeth to the construction and related industries.
HM Plant has two other key partnerships with leading Japanese companies:
- Isuzu supplies HM Plant with its market leading diesel engines for distribution into the marine and industrial sectors.
- HM Plant is the title sponsor of Honda Racing in the UK. This relationship extends to the British Superbike Championship, the World and British Motocross championships.
