Another top 10 BTCC championship finish for Collard
The final race of the season was a mixed-bag for HM Plant sponsored British Touring Car
Championship driver Rob Collard. In the first race he managed a strong 8th place finish,
fighting his way forward from 17th on the grid.
However, in the second race of the day a puncture meant Rob could only finish 23rd.
A position he also finished in for the third race. This time a coming together with Frank
Wrathall’s Toyota, which Wrathall was later fined for, put an end to Rob's chances of a
satisfying finish to the season.
Despite that slightly disappointing end to the campaign, it was one that had some real high
points, with Rob finishing eighth out of 34 in the overall standings, and an impressive fifth
in the Independent drivers championship; picking up six podium finishes along the way,
(three of those on one amazing race weekend at Croft Circuit in the North East!)
So, with another exciting season over what are Rob's plans for the winter? Well, other than
sons Ricky and Jordan keeping him busy following them on the karting circuit, in the close
season Rob will be focusing on keeping fit. He's already entered a few 10k runs and is for
planning more, helping him make sure he's ready to meet the 2012 BTCC head on!
